Easy Apple Pie Ice Cream

Nothing says summer quite like ice cream. As a kid we used to make homemade ice cream every couple weeks from Memorial Day and Labor Day, but the process of filling and cranking the ice cream maker was arduous. While I would love to continue the homemade ice cream tradition with my own kids, cranking the machine for 4 hours is just not practical. Instead, we’ve found a much simpler way to create delicious flavored ice cream while still going about our summer activities. I’ll usually whip up the concoction just before we head out to the park or the pool, so that by the time we get home we can relax on the porch and indulge.

This recipe is super easy and leaves much room for variation. My favorite ice cream flavor we’ve tried is by far the all-American apple pie. We’ve tried other flavorings and all have been great (including some adventures with chocolate and peanut butter) but apple pie stands out as the crowd favorite in my home.

Apple Pie Ice Cream

Recipe for Easy Apple Pie Ice Cream:

Ingredients:

2 cups heavy whipping cream, cold

1 can (14oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 Marie Callender’s Small Apple Pie (frozen)

Directions:

Microwave your Marie Callender’s Small Apple Pie according to the package directions. Let cool.

Meanwhile, add your cold whipping cream to the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment (you can also use a hand mixer). Beat until it turns into whipped cream, just a few minutes with the electric mixer and a few more if using a hand mixer.

Fold sweetened condensed milk gently into the whipped cream. Stir in vanilla.

Remove cooked pie from pie dish. Chop into bite-sized pieces. Stir into whipped cream mixture.

Place your ice cream in a sealable container and freeze at least 4 hours or overnight.
