Give a Gift of a Star from Star Registry (and a Giveaway)

Star Registry

As a nature lover and a “True Romantic” I’ve always loved the idea of naming a star.  Recently I got the chance to do just that, through the International Star Registry.  This is such a unique gift idea to get for yourself or a number of people on your gift list.  Consider the person on your list who is hard to buy for, nature lovers, science lovers, art lovers, and anyone who loves good keepsake.

Since 1979 International Star Registry has been naming stars for people all over the world. The star names and their coordinates are permanently recorded in the book Your Place in the Cosmos to be registered at the Copyright Office of the United States of America. To date, 9 volumes of this book have been published containing over 2 million star names. The Photographic Sky Chart is a collaborative effort between a team of German photographers and International Star Registry.

In my case, I decided to make my star a wedding keepsake. As cool, as I always thought it would be to have a star in my name, I love the idea of having a star named for my husband and I together.  I got the International Star Registry® gift package with the Gary and Jerri Birdwell star.  The package includes a beautiful 12″ x 16″ parchment certificate, available framed or unframed, with the name of your choice, dedication date, and telescopic coordinates of the star. You’ll also receive an informative booklet with charts of the constellations plus a larger, more detailed chart with the star you name encircled in red.

The quality of this is great.  It is  definitely a good keepsake and something great to hang in your office, living room, or other are of the house. (You can get even get your frames right on the Star Registry site.)

The International Star Registry also has a variety of packages and products.  For instance, if I had wanted I could have opted to get His & Hers stars.  Stars can be bought in couples or groups to commemorate special relationships in your life: husband & wife, siblings, mommy & me, daddy & me, and more!

And aside from your certificate and star chart, you can commemorate your star with other keepsake items, like engraved ornaments and necklaces.

I really love this, and I think it is a great gift for so many occasions, including Christmas and Valentine’s Day.

Win it! Two Simply Sweet Home readers will win a Custom Star Kit. Use the form below to enter.
