The fall season is here, and holidays are just around the corner.  For me, this means the season of good eats and sweet treats is upon us!  But when you’re a wife and mom, you usually don’t get to just enjoy the treats around you, you also have to come up with your own dessert ideas to bring for functions.

Whenever it’s time for Thanksgiving and Christmas parties, I’m usually tasked with bringing desserts. (And I’m okay with this, because desserts are my favorite recipes to make!)  But if your family participates in a lot of activities, you may find yourself in a pinch for a quick dessert recipe!  School and church parties, fall festivals, and school fundraisers (like a bake sale or cake walk) are just a few events I can think of where you may need to bring a dessert, and I’m sure you can think of many more!

For these occasions, I find it’s easy and cost-effective to create a “semi-homemade dessert.”  For example, purchase a Sara Lee® cheesecake, pound cake, or other dessert, and then add Hershey’s® syrups and other ingredients to customize the dessert.

Sara Lee and Hersheys

I recently visited Publix, where I saw an array of Sara Lee frozen desserts and Hershey’s syrups.  I purchased Sara Lee Classic New York Style Cheesecake and Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup.

Deal Alert! Publix also a great promotion going on now through October 9, 2015.  Receive a FREE 17-24oz Hershey’s® Syrup when you buy any ONE (1) Sara Lee® Frozen Dessert (while supplies last).

I used the cheesecake, syrup, and other toppings to create this yummy Rocky Road S’mores Cheesecake!  This turned out to be so yummy!  I’ve always been in love with Sara Lee desserts, especially their cheesecake!  It is just so yummy as a stand alone dessert, but this recipe just takes it to a whole new level, and I put it together in about 5 minutes!

Here’s all the stuff you need:

Pretty easy, right?  And the best part is that no one will know it’s not a completely made from scratch dessert, unless you tell them!  (But if your friends are as busy as you are, I’m sure they’d totally appreciate the tip!)

Rocky Road Smores Cheesecake

Not a fan of rocky road and s’mores?  Then you can infuse so many other great fall flavors into this cheesecake.  Here are just a few:

  • Caramel Apple Cheesecake. Just top with bits of apple, caramel, and pecans.
  • Apple Streusel Cheesecake. Top with bits of apple and a coarse mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter.
  • Autumn Pear Cheesecake.  Add baked pears or pear preserves, along with a streusel topping of brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter.
  • Any Fruit Cheesecake.  And of course, you can add any fruit topping from raspberries to peaches!
