Game Day Oreo BallsWhen the holiday season is in the air, I can hardly wait to make sweet treats like OREO Cookie Balls!  But why should these yummy treats only be made around the holidays?  I see no reason why OREO Cookie Balls shouldn’t be on our party menus year round.  Do you?

There are a number of ways you can transform OREO Balls to fit any holiday or occasion.  Last weekend I made a batch for game day.  In the past I’ve seen a lot of people mold their balls in to football shapes, and those always look so cute.  But for my recipe, I went in a slightly different direction.  I just happen to have this cute little snack stadium.  In the past I’ve used it to hold cupcakes, but I’ve been dying to use it to display homemade candies.

So I dressed my OREO Cookie Balls out with X’s and O’s, and they took the field!  Haha!  I even made a few striped ones! (Because every game needs to officials!)

The recipe works great with any Oreo variety, but for me, there’s nothing like the original!

I shopped at Walmart for my ingredients.  You’ll find the OREOS in the cookie aisle, of course.  Just look at all the choices they have!

Below is the “official” OREO Cookie Balls Recipe!

To make the OREOs fit for Game Day, I used Decorator Gel.  This comes in a number of colors, so you can easily decorate the balls to fit the teams who are playing if you’d like.

I decided to use black because it could fit in to any party.

Then I just the the decorate gel to draw X’s and O’s on the balls.  I also put stripes on a few of the balls, so I could have a football in the center and some officials on the sidelines!

After you’ve decorated these, you just need to arrangement them.  You could easily put them on a simple platter.  (Any football fan would still get the X’s & O’s reference), but if you really want to have fun with this, you should find a snack stadium like the one I have here.  Alternatively you can arrange them on top of a football field sheet cake or cookie cake, or find a place mat that resembles a football field.

You could even get creative and make you own football field out of green vinyl or poster board!

  1. Oreos are already delicious by themselves… this is just devilish (in a good way). If I made these they might not make it to the party…
