Drink More Water with SodaStream

With Christmas just over a week away and New Year’s immediately following, it may be time for you to start thinking about those New Year’s Resolutions.  The last few years I’ve focused on small, simple goals to improve my life, rather than a large-scale grandiose scheme that probably won’t work out for me!  And I think if everyone focused one or two little things, we’d all have more success.  Today we are talking health goals.  I have some “small, simple tips” for tracking and improving your health in the new year!

SodaStream Power

My first simple tip is to Drink More Water.  As I’m sure most of you know, it is recommended that we drink 8 glasses of water a day!  And most people fall short of this goal!  Think about it for a moment….how much water do you drink each day?

Drinking more water is a small task that requires very little effort but can greatly improve your health in so many ways!  And if 8 sounds like a lot, start with 1 glass and work your way up from there!

And if you’re just not in to water, try sparkling water!  The SodaStream Power Automatic Sparkling Water Maker  adds excitement to every bottle and every glass of water.  It includes easy touch button technology, and it allows you to carbonate your water at three different fizz levels, so you can get as much or as little fizz as you want!

They also have a variety of Sparkling Drink Mixes  Here are just a few:

Soda Stream Flavor Mixes

You can find the SodaStream Power at your favorite retailers, or you may purchase it online at SodaStreamusa.com.  They offer free shipping on all orders of $50 or more, and they have other special offers as well!

Sparkling Berry Water

My second simple tip is to Sneak More Fruits and Vegetables in to your diet.  Again, you don’t have to go on a crazy diet to improve your health!  Simply substitute a fruit or veggie in place of a less healthy alternative.

You can also tie tips one and two together by using your SodaStream Power to create a delicious Fruit Mocktail!

Berry Pineapple Punch

As someone who suffers from frequent migraines, I’ve been told how important it is to stay hydrated, and I also look for foods that can help me with my migraines.  I’ve found that pineapple is a superfood that helps with both of these!  So I actually made a Berry Pineapple Punch:  I used the Berry Mix with my SodaSteam Power to make the berry flavored water.  Then I poured up a small glass of the berry water and just added 1/4 to 1/2 cup of pineapple juice!  It makes for a delicious punch; it adds that small bit of fruit to your diet, and it’s definitely hydrating!

Purple Pill

My third simple tip to is Take All Medicines (both prescription and non-prescription), as well as vitamins, as directed by your doctor.  That may sound easy, but I know a lot of people struggle with this.

Diffuser

My fourth simple tip is to Find Ways to Relax.  If you can find a way to go to bed early and get an extra 30 minutes or hour of sleep, that is ideal, but if you can’t, there are so many ways to relax.  I recently started using essential oils, and I use those in a diffuser that is right on my desk and can be used anywhere.  A relaxing bath or massage is also quite helpful for de-stressing and clearing your mind.

Health Tracker

My fifth simple tip is to Track Your Health.  Tracking your health and your day-to-day activities can greatly help you to achieve health and fitness goals, as well as pinpoint certain problems with your routine.  If you have headaches, stomach ailments, or other ongoing health issues, it is helpful to keep track of your diet, your sleep, and your daily activities can really help you.

And as you write down what you’re eating, you may notice certain patterns.   (For example, I found that every time we had grilled burgers here at home, I would have a terrible headache the next day!  As a result, I no longer eat my burger with a marinade.)

I’ve created this Printable Weekly Health Tracker especially for you:

How to Use This Printable: This printable has spaces for you to put your sleep times, meals, exercise, how you feel, meds taken, and your daily activities.  Just fill in the blanks each day. (I recommend printing out several and keeping them in a binder beside your bed or on your desk.) And then study your chart from time to time. Take note of your progress if you are trying to manage your diet and fitness.

And if you are tracking for certain ailments, look at your “sick days” and see if you find any patterns (meals you had that day or the day before, stressful activities, etc.)

And if you are seeing a doctor for headaches, stress, or any other ailment, take your charts with you to your appointments.  Your doctor can often use this sort of information to better diagnose and advise you.

Have you started making a list of New Year’s Resolutions? I’d love to hear any “simple goals” you wish to achieve!
