Mens Essentials Stocking

Christmas is just around the corner!  Have you done all your holiday shopping yet?  Our son is 15, and believe it or not, we’ve not only bought almost all of his presents, but we’ve actually already given him most of his gifts.  I think it started back in October; our Etsy shop had a huge order, and we decided to splurge on a few things.

In that whole process, we decided to go ahead and buy him a computer desk that he’s been begging us for.  Then his computer chair needed replacing….next we took advantage of some Black Friday clothing sales and decided to let him go ahead and have those items so that he could wear them to school, and I guess you could say that it then spiraled out of control with a video game here and a video game there, etc.

But we’re still going to get him one or two “fun gifts” and some essentials so that he will have something to open for Christmas!

Philips Norelco Shaver 3100

Since he’s too old for a stocking filled with little candies and toys, one thing I like to do each year is make him an “essentials stocking.”

Something new and interesting that I’m adding to this year’s “essentials stocking”  is an electric razor!  The Philips Norelco Shaver 3100 adds power to your morning. With more minutes per charge, fully washable heads and a ComfortCut shaving system, you are always ready to quickly finish your morning routine!

Philips Norelco at Walmart

I purchased the Philips Norelco Shaver 3100 on Rollback at Walmart.  You can find it in the health & beauty department, alongside the razors and shaving supplies.

Teen Boy

Just look at that face!  At age 15, Noah is 6’2″ and weighs about 180 pounds, but he’s still got quite the baby face.  His dad doesn’t have a lot of facial hair either, so it’s no surprise to us that Noah doesn’t have to shave quite as much as some of his classmates.  But oh…how he loves to shave!

As we were picking out a razor for Noah, my husband said that the Philips Norelco 3100 would be especially perfect for him, because it will get all those fine hairs (or peach fuzz, if you will) that other razors cannot remove so well.

And I also love this razor as a gift for teens, you adults, and men-on-the-go, because it has a long battery life after charging!

Mens Essentials Stockings

Now let’s talk about how to put together your Men’s Essentials Stocking and what you should include.

I came up with the idea to do an “essentials stocking” a year or two ago.  Our kids always have those “little things” that they really actually need each year.  (When I was growing up, my mom always bought socks for everyone!)  And while teens can be very hard to buy for, I find that most all teens enjoy getting personal care items they can use.  By creating an “essentials stocking”  you can get them the essentials they need and also have them a little extra something to open at Christmas. (Because let’s face it, opening the gift is half the fun!)

By the way, this is also a great gift idea for kids in college, your spouse, or even an older parent!

First you should do a little inventory.  Check out your gift recipient’s personal areas and items.  Are there any essential items that your child or significant other is almost out of and needs almost immediately?  (If you have a child away at college, just assume they need everything! haha!)

Next you should make a list of everything you want to include.  Are there any particular brands and items that your gift recipient likes?  Has your gift recipient mentioned anything they want or need?  You could even ask you child directly about things they want or need.

Now shop for your teen boy or man!  Walmart has a wide array of personal care items that are reasonably priced, and around the holidays, you can find a lot of great deals on gift sets!

-I always like to include socks, and sometimes I’ll include a pack of underwear or a pair of pajama pants, as needed.

-Next I include something special, such as the razor!  In the past, I’ve gone with an electric toothbrush.  You could also include a nice new wallet or a bottle of cologne.

-Then I choose a few everyday essential items  Consider the following:  Body Wash, Shampoo, Soap, Deodorant, Body Spray, Toothpaste, Mouthwash, a Loofah.

-If you’re buying for a child who’s away at college or lives outside the home, you could also go another route with the essentials.  Consider items such as laundry detergent, paper goods, and cleaning supplies.

After you’ve done your shopping, there’s nothing else to do but pack the items up.  Although I call it an “essentials stocking” I usually don’t use a stocking, because all the items will not fit!  Instead I usually use a large gift bag.  You could also use a box or even make it gift basket.

Have you ever made an “essentials stocking” for your child or loved one?  What special items do you like to include in your teen or older child’s stocking?
