Rock Someone’s Holiday – Rockwell Tools Giveaway – DIY Room Building Tutorial

Rockwell BladeRunner X2 Review and Giveaway

If you are a DIYer or have a handy man spouse, than today’s post is definitely for you! If you read my blog enough, you’ll often hear me refer to my husband as my Mr. Fix It!  Anytime I need something fixed or improved, or I want to build something, I just tell him my idea, and he puts a plan in to action.

Most recently we’ve been working on a new “Project Room” in our outbuilding. I would call it a craft room, but my husband will be working in there too, and “craft room” just doesn’t sound like a very manly place to be. (Haha!)  So it’s a project room, or workshop, if you will.

As with any project we take on, we need tools to fix up the room.  One tool that has been very helpful with this project is the BladeRunner X2 from Rockwell Tools.

BladeRunner X2 Saw

Here are a few quick facts about this table saw:

-This portable table saw sets up in seconds and will cut a variety of materials, including wood, metal, tile, aluminum, and plastic.

-It is lightweight and easy to carry, weighing less than 15lbs. (Yes! Even I can carry it!)

-It also has instant, tool-free blade changes and is compatible with any t-shank jigsaw blades of 4″ or less.

It is easy-to-use, leaving both hands free to control your cuts.

It has a dedicated steel rip fence with large scale for accurate rip cuts.

It has On-board storage for miter gauge, rip fence and blades.

Today I’m just going to give you a little “preview” of the room, since it’s not finished yet and also show you how we used the BladeRunner X2 to close in the room.

Old Dingy Room

The previous owner of our house basically built a small room inside the outbuilding/garage.  But since it was built, there’s been some damage to the wall (as you can see).  And it was never fully closed in.  (The picture on the left was taken from the outside. As you can see, it is a hole that’s big enough for a set of French doors!

Closing in the Room

We started by hooking up electricity to the room (as the lines had been previously cut).  Then we painted.  The walls were very dirty and now they are a clean grey.  However, you will notice that the door and trim are not yet painted in these photos.

We then put up a the door, and we closed in the rest of the wall.  To do this, my husband used the saw to cut a few pieces of wood to frame up the wall.

Building A Wall

Next we used the saw to cut some plywood.  This is nailed into the boards from outside the room.  From there, you can hang insulation.  We chose not to do that here, as it would only be two pieces and not really worth our trouble.  Finally you measure and cut your sheetrock as needed.  Nail it to your boards. Seal it and paint!

And that’s how we closed in the room in a “nutshell.”  After we get the room completely done, I will show you a complete before and after, as it is going to look amazingly different.  (I’m talking new flooring, a countertop, pegboard, organizers, the works!)
