10-tips-for-a-bright-and-youthful-eye-appearance

Throughout my life, the number one thing people have always complimented me on has been my eyes.  Like most people, I always welcome a nice compliment and cannot help but smile about this.  As implied in my blog title, I’m a simple kind of girl, and I’m definitely not a “glam girl.”  However, as a woman, I believe it is important that we do what we need to do feel good about ourselves and feel confident and comfortable in our own skin. I, for one, feel dramatically happier and more positive about myself when I’ve taken 10 minutes to get dressed and do makeup versus spending the day in my pajamas.  And it is amazing how this extra bit of effort improves my confidence and my overall attitude as I go through my day.  And as I go through my day with a positive attitude, I am able to affect others in a positive way.

Achieving that bright and youthful appearance isn’t always that simple.  In fact, for many, it is a daily struggle, but it doesn’t have to be.  Today I’m going to share 10 tips for a bright and youthful eye appearance.

When I think of improving eye health and eye appearance, I can put my tips in to 2 categories:   We have the use of cosmetics and other products to cover up the problem, and we have strategies that work, not just to cover, but provide relief and get rid of the undesirable eye appearance.  Today’s tips and tutorial will take a comprehensive approach, exploring both of these areas.

Let’s begin with a tip that can improve your eye appearance as well as your overall eye health: the use of eye drops.  Whether your suffer from dry eyes or you have multiple eye symptoms, like red, burning, and itchy, dry eyes, it is important to have the proper drops to provide immediate relief and thus prevent you from rubbing and scratching your eyes, causing further injury and irritation.

1.  Use the proper eye drops.  Clear Eyes® Pure Relief™ has a muti-symptom and a dry eye product.  I like to use the Clear Eyes® Pure Relief™ Multi-Symptom.  I like to keep a bottle in my medicine cabinet and another bottle in my purse for emergencies.  The product is for people with red, burning, itchy, dry, irritated, gritty or watery eyes.   The bottle contains over 220 drops and has a proprietary built-in purifying filter that keeps out bacteria. The drops are also made with Sodium Hyalouronate, a form of Hyaluranic Acid, are preservative free, and provide up to 12-hours of relief.

2. Use an eye cream. For an improved eye appearance, I recommend using an eye cream in the morning and evening.  There are a variety of creams available on the market.  Some of these are made specifically to target and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, whiles others work to improve the appearance of dark circles and puffiness.  When shopping for an eye cream, always take note of the active ingredients, indications, and uses listed on the package, and purchase the cream that is best for you.

3. Find the right cosmetics.  Obviously the right colors and shades of makeup may vary from person to person.  Personally I prefer to go for a more natural look.  To do this, I use make up that blends in with my natural skin tone, and I use shades of eye shadow that lighten and brighten my eyes.  (Think silver, white, gold, buttercream, and anything in the nude color palette.)

To coincide and further elaborate on my use of eye creams and the right cosmetics, I’ve put together a brief tutorial for you.

Eye Cream & Makeup Tutorial

First you conceal the dark areas on my eye lids. You start by gently patting your favorite eye cream on to your eyelid and underneath the eye area.

Then you add your concealer and/or foundation.  I use a 3-in-1 product.  It is a primer, concealer, and foundation all-in-one, and it is also an SPF product.

Next you should apply eye shadow to brighten the appearance of the eye.  In this photo, I’ve blended together two shades: silver and vanilla.  These lighter shades not only brighten the eye, but also give you a natural and refreshed look.

Next you need to give more definition to the eye with a thin application of eye liner.  For this, I’ve used shades of black or brown.  Specific shades are espresso, onyx, and charcoal.

Next add your finishing touches.  I use my favorite mascara (either black or brown, to match the eyeliner I’m using).  Then I finish my face makeup off with a little pressed powder (to prevent shine and promote all day wear) and an application of blush to add warmth and glow.  And finally I apply a little lipstick and gloss.  And again, in both of these case, I choose colors that blend in well and just accentuate and brighten my natural tones and features.

What else can you do to create a bright and youthful eye appearance?  Here are 7 more tips to add to your list.

4. Get plenty of sleep.

5. Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water and juices (especially those high in Vitamins C and A).

6. Place a cold pack on your eyes.  A cold pack will help to bring down swelling and reduce puffiness.

7. Get regular eye exams.  By ensuring that you have the proper glasses and contact prescription, you will prevent squinting and eye strain, which leads to swelling, wrinkles, and premature aging.

8. Take rest from the computer.  If you spend a lot of your time on computers and mobile devices, before to take a break every 50 to 60 minutes.  Also, make a conscious effort to blink more.  (Studies show our blink rates are dramatically lessened when we use our mobile devices and computer, resulting in increased eye strain.)

9. Try natural remedies to reduce swelling and puffiness.  To reduce swelling and puffiness, place col cucumber slices on your eye lids for about 10 minutes.  You can also use strawberry slices or potato slices in the same way.  Or take 1/2 a liter of water and add a drop of lavender.  Then soak cotton pads in the mixture and place on the eyes for 10 minutes.

10. Protect your eyes.  Previously I discussed the use of eye creams and concealers to improve the look of your eyes.  If you’re going out, it is important to find one of these products that also contains a sunscreen.  An SPF moisturizer or BB cream may also be used.  And you should wear a good pair of protective sunglasses.  Over time exposure to the sun can cause the whites of your eyes to yellow, and SPF protection can help with this.

  1. I’m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I come across a blog that’s
both equally educative and amusing, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
The problem is something which too few folks are speaking intelligently
about. I am very happy I came across this in my hunt for something regarding this.
