BBQ Chicken Sliders and Fried Pickles

The summer grilling season is dwindling down, which means it’s time to think about after school snacks (and football food).  For both of these, I often run to my freezer for solutions!  Farm Rich has several options that we LOVE!  When I was a kid, I ate their cheese sticks all the time, and nowadays I also enjoy their Crispy Dill Pickles, Boneless BBQ Chicken Bites, Boneless Buffalo Chicken Bites, and Chicken Wings! Buffalo Pepper Jack Nachos

You must know by now that I love all things spicy, and especially all things buffalo!  The other day I made these delicious Buffalo Pepper Jack Nachos.  They were awesome, of course, so much so that I’ve already made a second version of the buffalo nachos (to be posted later….stay tuned!) Easy cooking with Tyson and Birds Eye

“I’m hungry!”  This phrase is uttered so many times a day in my house by everyone, including me!  I thought that I’d have more time for cooking with school out, but boy, was I wrong!  The last few weeks I’ve been dealing with a pretty big work load, and on top of this, we’ve been doing improvements around the house: painting, de-cluttering and organizing, rearranging furniture. Ah!

By the time I get done with everything else I have to do, the last thing I want to do is cook.  And yet, “I’m hungry!” continues to echo through the hall (and in my own mind and stomach).

Ordering out is an option, but we can’t do that every day, so having easy and convenient food options is a MUST.  For that, I often go to the freezer! [Read more…]

Chipotle Chicken

With the hot summer weather, comes summer grilling!  Like many households, here at Simply Sweet Home, my husband is the Grill King!  Not only does he do a great job of cooking up meats to perfection, but he is also a master when it comes to creating custom sauces and marinades.

Just like our Southern summers, when it comes to sauces, we like it hot!  Over the weekend my hubby grilled up some delicious chicken, featuring a hot, bold, and savory sauce that doubles as both a marinade and a dipping sauce for entrees and appetizers!

Lemon Muddy Buddies Mix

Brachs Jelly Beans

Still eating leftover jelly beans from Easter?  Or are you more like me and you like to buy jelly beans year round?  Either way, you’ll love today’s fun recipe. Over the weekend I made some delicious Lemon Muddy Buddies Mix.  I love muddy buddies, and I’ve been wanting to try the lemon flavor a while…believe me, it didn’t disappoint!  When I make muddies, I always like to have at least one “add in.”  The add-in not only mixes things up in terms of flavor but it also adds a lot to the overall color and presentation of the mixture.  To liven up these lemon muddies, I added some Brach’s Jelly Beans.

The jelly beans went perfectly with this lemon, and I’d imagine it would be great with other fruit flavored and even plain vanilla muddies.  So break out your left over Easter jelly beans or go out and buy a new bag, and give it a try!

Game Day Fiestas with Delimex

This week our television seems to be fixed on basketball! At our house, it can be very hard to pry people away from the television or the computer to eat a meal, and if a ball game is on, you can just forget about it!  For this reason, I always like to have plenty of appetizers and snacks, I can whip up at a moment’s notice.  This way I can skip the cooking, and they can enjoy the game!  A couple of days ago, I made some Delimex. Chicken Bacon Ranch Subs

Super Bowl Sunday is almost here! Who will you be rooting for?  Regardless of who is playing, I’m always cheering for good food!  One item that will definitely be on my football party supply list is  Naturally Fresh Salad Dressing.  Naturally Fresh offers a variety of salad dressings, dips, and other products.  A couple of my favorites include their Classic Ranch and Bleu Cheese (also available in Lite versions).  Naturally Fresh puts real, wholesome ingredients in their products; for instance, their Bleu Cheese dressing includes real chunks of aged bleu cheese and buttermilk, along with real herbs and spices.  And you’ll definitely taste the difference!

Apart from using natural and fresh ingredients, the brand sets themselves about from others by not using artificial flavors, flavor enhancers, colors, thickeners, preservatives, or MSG.  As such, you’ll find their product not with other dressings and condiments, but in the refrigerated section, alongside the produce. Big Game Snacking It’s hard to believe football season is almost over! But with one more game still to go, there’s still plenty of time for Big Game Snacking.  Last weekend we enjoyed a small football party with family and friends and an array of food, decorations and fun!

Easy Party Decorations

Finding party decor and activities is as easy and affordable as 1-2-3.  I used a great set of printables from Dazzle Expressions for the table decor.  And for kids, there are a lot of free printable activity pages like this Football Bingo Game from Pretty Providence.  My friend Ami of AliLily also has a great post of 42 Football Party Ideas which includes a great collection of party games and activity sheets, as well printable decorations.  And then I just got a simple green table cloth and few other party supplies from Walmart to decorate the table.  Easy peasy!

Cheez-It and Pringles

As for food, I make parties easy with a couple of savory appetizers or main course items.  Last week we had a pizza and some Chicken, Bacon, Ranch Subs.  But on other occasions, I’ve served chicken tenders, wings, meatballs, little sausages, cheese sticks, and other tasty appetizers.  And then apart from that, I MUST have at least kind of dip to serve.  And where there’s dip, there has to be something to eat with the dip.  Enter Cheez-Its and Pringles!

Our pantry is always stocked with various flavors of these tasty snacks.  Not only does our son love them, but so do my husband and I.  And both snacks are very affordable! [Read more…]

25 Delicious Must-Make Recipes from 2014

25 Delicious Must-Make Recipes

Happy New Year! (Again!)  As a blogger, it seems to have become quite customary to take the interim period between Christmas and New Year’s Day to look back over the year’s work and then re-share some of the highlights.  So I’ve been looking back at everything over the last few days, and today I have a fun round-up of posts for you: my 25 Delicious Must-Make Recipes from 2014!

I can honestly say that I enjoyed making and EATING all of these, so I hope you will check them out and decide to make few of these for yourself (especially the chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes….just saying!)

And as always, I welcome your comments on this and any of the recipe posts featured here, especially on my photos.  In 2014, I worked on improving my photo staging and editing, but I was still limited by not having a DSLR camera (not to mention, the lighting was not always ideal!).  However, I’m really proud of the improvements I was able to make throughout the year, and I am super excited because I….I mean, Santa, just got me a DSLR camera for Christmas, so I cannot wait to make things look even better here in 2015!  [Read more…]
