Are you ready to party for the holidays? If you’re the party hostess, this might be harder to question to answer. Personally I love hosting an appetizer party. Appetizers are generally easy to make, and you can time them so that you don’t have to do all your prep work right before the party, which takes a lot of stress off you, the hostess. Today I’m sharing a delicious party food recipe that I love, and I have some party food tips to get you through the holiday season. [Read more...]
After all the Halloween candy and treats, you may be longing for something healthy to add to your diet. (Or maybe you’re already ready thinking about all the holiday eating ahead); either way you can indulge in a sweet treat and still remain guilt free with Fiber One Products.
I love, love, LOVE Fiber One. I’ve been eating their brownies for a long time, and earlier this year I tried out their Lemon Bars, which are just amazing! What I love about the treats is that they are a low calorie food, and they are a great source of fiber, and yet, they still taste very delicious. (And believe me, I’m picky when it comes to flavor!)
Any time I shop in the aisle that has the Fiber One bars and snacks, I’m always seeing other products to try, and last month I finally tried a few. The three items I tried were the Chocolate Chip Cookies, Streusel Bars, and Meal Bars. And I loved them all!
Because I’m such a fan of the brownies, I’ve wanted to try the cookie for a while. As you’d expect, it’s not quite as sweet as your typical chocolate chip cookie, I think they make a very delicious, and a pretty filling snack. (Each cookie also contains 20% of your daily value of fiber!)
The streusel bars were also a big hit with me. These were strawberry flavored with oats and brown sugar, and they are very delicious, almost like something you’d get from a pastry shop, and yet they have 20% of your daily value of fiber, are just 150 calories per bar and have 12 grams of whole grain.
And finally we have the Meal Bars. I was very surprised at how much I liked these These come in a few flavors, but I got the Dark Chocolate Almond. Unlike the other Fiber One Products, they bars are bigger (about twice the size or more of the other products) and since they are a Meal Bar, I suppose they should be. I found them to be quite yummy and very filling. And the bars have 10 grams of protein, plus 9 grams of fiber.
Look for Fiber One Snack Bars at your local Target store. They are located in the healthy snack aisle.

Today I have a super easy treat that’s also healthy, yet festive for the fall season! This Halloween Fruit Cup is made using the little fruit cups you get from the store. You could also use fruit from a can, frozen, or even fresh fruit, but the little fruit cups work great for a single serve dessert without any measuring. When it comes time for game day, we always have a lot of “man food” on hand. I love putting out a spread of appetizers on the counter just before the start of the first game of the day, and then going back later at dinner time. It generally makes for an easy day as far as cooking, and it allows me to watch the games with my hubby without having to spend all day in the kitchen. Hot Wings are definitely on my top 5 list of game day buffet items! But if you want to keep it easy, you usually have to order out, which can get expensive, or you have to buy a frozen product, which just doesn’t compare with something fresh.
OR… You can stop by the Walmart Deli! The Walmart Deli serves up a variety of bone-in and boneless wings for your football party! [Read more...]

Before we get started, I want to thank The Hungry Dudes for allowing me to use their photos to replace the ones that were lost when my iPhone met an unfortunate demise in the bathroom at Eldora Speedway.

My family is very excited for football season to be starting! My husband has already explained to me that the television station will be glued to the SEC Network, so that if I don’t want to watch sports, I can plan accordingly and go to the next room. Haha! But actually I really enjoy football and I especially love watching our team the Crimson Tide! And I also look forward each week to game day food!
We usually order out or make something early that will last the day, and game day food is generally “man food.” We like appetizers, especially chicken fingers and wings! But we also sometimes go for things like meatballs, sausage balls, cocktail weenies, cheesesticks, cheese fries, or chips and dip. And other times we like simple meals like sub sandwiches, grilled burgers, chili dogs, pizza, and barbecue sandwiches. Yes, we do love to eat!
As much as I love all the salty and spicy goodness of game day, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t crave something sweet! So today I am sharing a simple dessert that you can prepare to make your game day even sweeter! I took my recipe for strawberry pretzel salad and turned it in to a kid-friendly game day treat: Strawberry Pretzel Parfaits. And I added a little extra team spirit to the treat using Jell-O University Molds! [Read more...]

Noah started his freshman year of high school nearly two weeks ago. So far he seems to like it okay. It is hard to believe he is in high school; I think this is something that sneaks up on parents and most find they aren’t “ready” for it. When we took him to band camps during the summer, his dad first looked around and said, “It’s so weird to drop off Noah here, and most of these kids actually drove themselves. He’s too young for all this!” And he’s also remarked, “Wow, some of these kids have facial hair!” haha.
But aside from the basic anxieties, I think everyone is excited about the school year. I’m not sure if Noah is excited about all this pre-AP coursework he signed up for, but I know he’s very excited about being in band this year, and he’s look forward to this year’s band trip.
With the start of a new school year comes shopping for school lunch and snack items. If you’re looking for healthy, yet convenient options, Del Monte Fruit Cups and Del Monte Fruit Burst Squeezers make great additions to any lunch box.

School is starting here this week, and with the start of a new school year, after school snacks are a MUST! This year our son will be a “big 9th grader.” With a course load of pre-ap classes, as well as marching band and other school activities, it is sure to be a fun and exciting, yet challenging year! This fall will be especially hectic, as he will have band practice 3 days a week, plus his Friday football game activities participation. (And let’s not forget homework!) [Read more...]
