Scunci Review & Giveaway

Scunci Stocking I grew up using Scunci products and each year I could usually find some of their clips and ponytail holders in my stocking at Christmas time.  Today Scunci has even more products available for gift giving.

Whether your hair is curly or straight, short or long, you are sure to find a great Scunci product just for you!

Popular products include in the Bendini Clip, No-Slip Grip Clips, and the Upzing:

Scunci Products

The Bendini Clip has teeth to easily run through your hair, and then you just pop it in to place.  It’s perfect for a simple clip to wear on the side of your hair, or use it to pull hair back in to pony tails and buns.

Scunci’s No Slip Grip Clips are also great for a variety of styles.  They are perfect for wearing your hair down and pull back, or you may use it as a ponytail or bun holder.

And finally, my favorite is the Upzing.  The Upzing great for wearing your hair up. It’s also great for dressing up a pony tail or just pinning your hair back.  It also goes in amazingly easily, holds well in place, and it comes in a number of stylish colors.

Buy it! Check your local department store or find these and other great Scunci Products on Amazon.

Candles and jewelry make great gifts for any occasion, especially the Christmas season. Diamond Candles takes these two great gift ideas and combines them in to one fabulous gift.  Diamond Candles look great and like other candles will fill the rooms of your home with a nice scent.  And each candle also includes a ring valued anywhere from $10 to $5,000!

And the candles come in some great scents, including Vanilla Lime, Hawaiian Coconut, Honeysuckle, Apple Slice, Cupcake, and more!

gingerbread candle

For my review, I chose the Gingerbread candle.  I love the smell of gingerbread, and I think it’s a great scent not only for the holiday season, but also for fall.  I was very pleased with the size of the candle.  It’s a great size for decorative purposes and it allows for hours of burning time.

And the scent was great!  It’s very sweet, and it quickly feels the room with a refreshing aroma.

I was also happy with the ring I received.  It is a yellow marquise shaped stone.  It’s big and very bright and sparkly.

I really love my Diamond Candle, and I think  these would be great gifts for the holiday season!

Prize Candle Review

Prize Candle
Looking for a practical, but fun gift idea?  You should consider Prize Candle.   Like other candles, a Prize Candle makes a lovely accent piece and gives off a wonderful aroma when burned, but what makes a prize candle different from other candles is that it contains a ring inside.  Each ring is valued anywhere from $10 to $5000.

All you have to do is burn your candle, and then use tweezers to pull your ring packaging out of the candle.  Inside the packaging you will find code.  Enter the code on the Prize Candle website, and it will tell you how much your ring is worth.

I received a 9 oz soy candle in the Blue Cypress scent.  I really enjoyed burning this candle because it had a very clean smell to it.  It was very nice and not too overwhelming.  And of course, I was very excited to get my ring.

Prize Candle Ring

The ring I received features a large dark blue stone, and it is just beautiful. The ring itself was just a $10 ring, but I still love it.  It’s very stylish, and it will go with a lot of different outfits.

Homecoming Dresses and Formal Wear from DressFirst

Dress First

I love clothes, and I am always excited when I’m given the opportunity to write about fashion and showcase things that I like.  One thing that I love to look at is dresses and formal wear.  I came across Dress First a while back when I was “window shopping” online, and I was very impressed by their selections.  They have beautiful wedding dresses and wedding party dresses, as well as gorgeous prom and homecoming dresses.

Since the back to school season is upon us, that also means it will be time to shop for just the right dress for this fall’s homecoming dance.  Dress First has a great variety including strapless dress, one shoulder, and halter. And they have a variety of hemlines, materials, and other style preferences available.  I picked out several of my favorites to share with you today. Hope you enjoy!

Blue Dresses

Blue is definitely a go-to color for me because of my blue eyes and my lighter skin tones.  And I really love the stylings of all three of these.  They all have beautiful skirts and waistlines.  And they are just beautiful!

Red and Purple Dresses

I also love red and purple for dress colors.  Red of very bold, while purple is a little more subtle, yet very regal.  I really love the purple on the left  because I think it has a very simple elegance to it and would be great for a variety of occasions, formal or informal.  And then there’s just something about the red dress with the black flower embellishments that speaks to me. It’s very feminine, yet it’s a stand out and very bold.

Pink Dresses

I also love the color pink.  I’ve never really worn a lot of pink dresses, but I just think it’s such a beautiful color for formal wear.  The one on the far left is so sweet and elegant.  I’m in love with all the lace up top and the empire waist.  And then my other favorite among these is the third one from the left. Again,  I love the empire waist, and I really love the v-neck and the embellishments around the waist and neckline.  It really adds to this dress, making it very elegant.

Black Dresses

And of course we have to talk little black dresses!  I’d personally wear any of these now.  The one on the left has beading design at the top, as well as the beading on the v-neck straps that look just beautiful, and make this otherwise simple black dress a very elegant piece.  And I think you could easily wear it to a homecoming, dinner party, or anywhere else.

The second black dress here with one shoulder is definitely a show stopper and very stunning.  And finally the third one here is a  little conservative in terms of straps and the overall style, but I really liked the embellishments up to as well as the sweet skirt.

What do you look for in an elegant dress? Please stop by DressFirst and tell us what you like over there.

I am very excited to welcome a new sponsor to Simply Sweet Home! Novel Creations is a new chapter in purses!  Karen of Argyle, Texas has taken some of the best loved books out their (classics and current favorites) and repurposed them in to cute and fashionable purses and clutches.

I ran across her shop a few weeks ago, and I immediately fell in love!  As an English I love seeing jewelry and accessory that are somehow centered around the classics, so to find purses made out of the actual books was just thrilling. [Read more…]

Get Crafty with Your Clothing for Spring Time

blue jans

You don’t have to be an amazing seamstress to use your craft skills to create something extraordinary with your existing wardrobe. Being crafty this spring and summer especially comes in handy if you’re getting tired of wearing the same outfits. If you’re in the mood to switch things up but aren’t sure where to start, there are always different creative activities you can perform on your tee-shirt or shorts, for example. If you need a break from scrap booking, accessory making, or whatever other activities you enjoy after your work day is over, here are some ideas to get you started:

Altering a Tee –Shirt
A tee-shirt is quite simple to alter, especially if it means cutting off the sleeves to make it into a tank top or creating a cut-out top that has several cut-outs on each side of the shirt. If you don’t have a shirt that you feel like cutting up with a pair of scissors you may want to consider purchasing a few inexpensive ones to experiment on. Also, if your experiment doesn’t work out start at square one and use coupon codes at Sidepon.com  to purchase a few affordable pieces of clothing.

Tie-Dyed Apparel
Anything can be tie-dyed; you just have to be careful where and how you dye your clothing because it will need to be washed a few times prior to you wearing it. If you don’t wash it a few times after you dye it, it could bleed onto your other clothing next time you wash it, so be sure to do your research and make sure the item of clothing will no longer bleed. If you’re unsure how to complete this fun summer project do some research on the internet and experiment on clothing you know you can live without. It will look amazing on a maxi dress, a pair of jean shorts, or even a guy’s tie if you are feeling bold!

Add Embroidery or Lace
Of course there are always iron-ons and transfers that you can use on clothing, but if you’re super talented and know how to do embroidery, that is always a nice touch to add to a blouse or special item of clothing. Lace can also be ironed-on or sewed on to a top or pair of jean shorts. It will be fun to use your imagination and create special pieces of clothing that you know you created all on your own. Don’t be afraid to experiment, but understand that not everything will go smoothly, if it doesn’t –  there’s always https://www.mypersonalisedclothing.com/
