Back to School Gifts with Sadie Robertson Live Original + A Positive Note from Me

Sadie Robertson Live Original

Every day I’m troubled by a lot of the things I see and hear on movies, television, music, and other media.  The decline in faith and family values, and the lack of positive messages and role models often leads me wondering and worried about where we’re headed.

We try to do our part to lead positive lives and encourage the young people in our family to do the same.  One thing I  especially wish for the young ladies in our family is that they maintain self respect and a positive image.  I want for them to be proud of who they are and not define themselves based on what others think, or feel they have to change to fit someone else’s ideal.

I, for one, wish I could have figured that out a long time ago! I am in my 30s and I still occasionally struggle with self esteem issues.  I’ve always had severe anxiety, and because of that, I really missed out on a lot of opportunities.  As a student, my grades were nearly perfect, and yet I never really felt completely confident in a classroom.  My anxieties also left me very distrusting of a lot of people, and as a result I found it very hard to open up and get to know most people.

Whether you’re a student in high school or college, you’re out in the work force, or if you’re a stay-at-home mom, maintaining a positive attitude is essential.  You can be smart, talented, and attractive, but if you don’t have self-confidence and aren’t able to be comfortable just being yourself, then you are lost! None of that other stuff matters. [Read more…]

Why I Love Gold Toe Ultra Soft, Oh. So. Soft. Socks

Tracking PixelThis is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Gold Toe.

Gold Toe Socks

When I’m wearing the right outfit, I love a pair of sandals just as much as the next lady, but most days, I’m a sock girl!  Basically if you were ever to stop by my house unannounced, you can pretty much bet that you will find me in my socks!  I just can’t walk around barefooted, and I’ve really never been able go sock-less.  Even when I was a kid I couldn’t stand to go swimming or do any outdoor activity without something on my feet. Frozen foods are a MUST in my house.  We need plenty of quick meal and snack time options (and maybe a dessert or two as well).  And with summer time just around the corner it is even more imperative to keep our freezer stocked!  If you’re in the same boat as me, then you’ve got to visit Kroger!  They are running a great promotion on participating frozen items at ALL Kroger locations from May 13 to May 19.

DIY Orange Sugar Scrubs and Love2Love Frangrances

This Sunday is Mother’s Day, a day to celebrate, honor, and remember our mom, grandmother, and other special women in our life.  My mom is a wonderful person.  Here’s a recent picture of the two of us:

Jerri and Mom

She’s always there for us and is willing to help her children and grandchildren any way she can.  She constantly sacrifices her time, money (and occasionally her own sanity) and never asks for anything in return.  This is just one reason that I always like to get her something special for Mother’s Day.

When I go shopping for her gift, I run in to 2 problems: First of all, I’m shopping for someone who seems to have everything already.  Secondly, I’m working with a limited budget.  But somehow I always seem to work it out.  Today I’ve got a couple of gift ideas for Mother’s Day that are luxurious AND affordable! 10 Handmade Mother’s Day Gifts

Are you ready for Mother’s Day?  This year I have a set of really cute bird plates for my mom.  But in the past I’ve given her some of my own handmade jewelry from my shop:

Simply Sweet Creations Jewelry

As an Etsy shop owner, I appreciate and am thrilled about every sale that I get, especially right now, which is a slow time for me.  I also know how hard it can be to get your name out their and get advertiser (especially when you’re on a budget).  For this reason, I like to give other Etsy shops and handmade businesses exposure on my blog though low-cost paid advertisements and free features whenever possible.

Today I’ve put together a nice Mother’s Day gift guide featuring some lovely things that I’d love to have and items I think any mom would love!

Getting Spring Ready Skin

As I anticipate warmer weather coming my way, I can’t help but get excited about breaking out the capri pants, baby tees & tanks, and other spring clothing. Don’t get me wrong; I love sweater season!  But after a few months, I’m ready to show a little more skin, and I want my skin to look healthy, soft, and smooth.  I’ve never been the kind of girl who spends the day at the beauty shop or spa; it’s just not my thing!  For this reason, I look for high quality (yet affordable) products that I can use at home to help me get my beauty on!  Right now I’m using Softsoap Fresh & Glow to help my skin get spring ready! Daisy BB Gun

Does your child spend a lot of time staring at computer screens, mobile devices, and electronic games?  Ours too!  Each day after school, Noah can hardly wait to get home to his computer (as he’s mobile gaming in the back seat).  But we also encourage him to do outdoor activities.  For example, he likes to go camping, fishing, and hunting.  And while we can’t exactly do these activities every day, going out to do some target shooting is quite do-able.  For this reason, we got Noah an early Christmas present: the Daisy 880 BB Gun. Noah is 14, so this is a very good gun for his age group.  If you want your child to spend more time outdoors too, you can encourage them and teach them about hunting or camping. Daisy has a lot of great Christmas gifts for boys and girls. [Read more…]
