Big G Retro Cereals for 2014

Big G Retro 2014

Have you noticed a “new” look to your favorite cereals lately?  Each year General Mills rolls out retro boxes of popular Big G Cereals.  This year the cereals with that are getting the retro makeover are:

  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Puffs – 1994
  • Lucky Charms – 1965
  • Cheerios – 1945
  • Honey Nut Cheerios – 1979
  • Cinnamon Toast Crunch – 1984

I just love the Retro boxes.  There’s just something about them.  They look very fun and they just remind me of simple times and childhood.  My favorite Big G cereal is Lucky Charms, so I was happy to see it getting the retro look this year.

I was most surprised to see Reese’s Peanut Butter Puffs on the list.  I LOVE this cereal.  I actually remember when it first came out.  I was 11 years old in 1994, and of course, as soon as I saw the cereal, I had to try it.  I can’t believe it’s been around for 20 years!  It almost makes me feel old….almost.   It’s been a while since I’ve had Reese’s Peanut Butter Puffs, so I was happy to be reintroduced to the cereal again.  It was like having breakfast with an old friend.

You can find all these Big G Retro Boxes at your local Target.  Check the cereal line, or look around the check out line for all 5 varieties.

Jimmy Dean RedBox Breakfasts

I love breakfast!  It is actually one of my favorite meals to eat, but I’m not a fan of getting up to make it, when I’m in a hurry, I have to go with something quick and simple.  (Cereal, anyone?)  Luckily  Jimmy Dean has come to the rescue with their Red Box Breakfasts!  With this great line of products, you can serve up hot, delicious meals at breakfast time in as little as 5 minutes!

Jimmy Dean Red Box

The Red Box Breakfast line includes of variety of sandwiches and breakfast bowls.  They include (but are not limited to):

  • Jimmy Dean Meat Lover’s Breakfast Bowl
  • Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Croissant Sandwiches
  • Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Muffin Sandwiches
  • Jimmy Dean Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit Sandwiches

I LOVE Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sandwiches.  I usually buy their Bacon, Egg, and Cheese or their Ham & Cheese Croissants, but I’ve also tried their Sausage Biscuits, Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit, and their Chicken Biscuits.  All of these have been just great!  They taste delicious, and you get a good amount of servings for the price.

But for this review, I decided to go with something a little different; the Jimmy Dean Meat Lover’s Breakfast Bowl!

Jimmy Dean RedBox Breakfasts

I had always been curious about trying the Breakfast Bowls, and I’m so glad that I finally did!  I seriously could not believe out good the Meat Lover’s Bowl is!

This bowl comes packed with scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and cheese!  So hearty and very filling! Not to mention, Yummy!

Breakast Bowl Bite

The serving size is also great.  I believe it is perfect for one person. I got plenty to eat and found it very satisfying! Not to mention, that each bite is filled with flavor, so much that you will have no problem cleaning your bowl:

Say Good Morning with Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Honey Bunches of Oats for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Do you have trouble waking up and getting a move on? Do you love Honey Bunches of Oats?  Now you can kick start your morning with Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy.

The new cereal is available in two great-tasting flavors: Cinnamon Crunch and Chocolately Almond Crunch.

It's made of whole grain flakes and granola cluster and it is packed with protein and fiber.  The cereal not only gives you a good, healthy start to your day, but it is filling and great for putting a stop to mid-morning hunger.

I really like the new cereals.  I like that it is a healthy cereal but still tastes great!  I also love that they made both chocolate and cinnamon flavors.  These flavors make it so the cereal can appeal to all ages and all sorts of people, including kids.

Personally I love the Cinnamon Swirl flavor.  The cinnamon flavor goes perfect with the flakes and oat clusters.  On top of this I also added a little sugar, and it complimented it perfectly!  I'd definitely recommend it to cinnamon lovers!

And then I also think a lot of people would love the Chocolately Almond Crunch.  For one thing, who doesn't love a little chocolate?  And the great thing about this cereal, is that you can eat chocolate and be guilt-free about it.

Christmas Day Muffins from Tanusree at Ma Niche

Today I’m pleased to welcome another holiday guest! Tanusree of Ma Niche is here to share some Christmas Day Muffins! Add this recipe to your Christmas breakfast or brunch menu, and I’m sure it will be a crowd pleaser!

Hello everyone ! I am Tanusree from the blog  Ma Niche, where I share my culinary adventures and sometimes easy diy projects. I love everything baked and everything Mediterranean and that is pretty evident from my blog.  Being from India where a big percentage of the population is vegetarian I often try to bake my cakes, cookies and breads without eggs, and today I am delighted to be here to share my eggless Christmas Day Muffins with you. I have baked these using whole wheat flour so they are slightly dense. However if you prefer fluffier ones just substitute the whole wheat flour with an equal measure of all-purpose flour and you’ll be good to go.

Cooking Directions

    1. Grease 7 muffin cups or 7 outer holes of a muffin tray and keep aside.
    2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
    3. Sift together the flours, baking powder, baking soda and the spices and keep aside.
    4. Put the oil, milk and orange juice in a mixing bowl and beat to mix them well.
    5. Add sugar to the liquid mixture and beat till it is well incorporated.
    6. Add the yogurt, marmalade and orange zest to the sugar-liquid mixture and beat well.
    7. Using a wooden spoon gently fold in the sifted flour mixture and the cranberries into the liquid mixture taking care not to over-beat.

Dip the muffins into the prepared marmalade glaze, coat them on all sides and let the glaze settle, about 10-15 minutes. Then serve and enjoy !
