Game Day Fiestas with Delimex

This week our television seems to be fixed on basketball! At our house, it can be very hard to pry people away from the television or the computer to eat a meal, and if a ball game is on, you can just forget about it!  For this reason, I always like to have plenty of appetizers and snacks, I can whip up at a moment’s notice.  This way I can skip the cooking, and they can enjoy the game!  A couple of days ago, I made some Delimex. Game Time with Tyson Deli Wings

When it comes time for game day, we always have a lot of “man food” on hand.  I love putting out a spread of appetizers on the counter just before the start of the first game of the day, and then going back later at dinner time.  It generally makes for an easy day as far as cooking, and it allows me to watch the games with my hubby without having to spend all day in the kitchen.  Hot Wings are definitely on my top 5 list of game day buffet items!  But if you want to keep it easy, you usually have to order out, which can get expensive, or you have to buy a frozen product, which just doesn’t compare with something fresh.

OR… You can stop by the Walmart Deli!  The Walmart Deli serves up a variety of bone-in and boneless wings for your football party! [Read more…]

A Mothers Shadow

Hi, my name is Carrie and my  site is A Mother’s Shadow.  Come by for ideas of practical life skills, suggestions of how to be self-reliant, and suggestions for how to serve others, as well as inspiration and tools to strengthen family.   I hope you will come by often and leave feeling refreshed, motivated and encouraged in your journey.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip

A wonderful dip for the holidays.  Easy to make ahead and warm in the crock pot, a crowd favorite.

Spinach Dip Ingredients

10-12 oz. frozen chopped spinach

1/4 – 1/3 cup milk

1 Tbl. olive or vegetable oil

14 oz. can artichokes, not marinated, rinsed and drained

1/2 bulb roasted garlic  or 1 tsp. garlic, finely mined

1/4 tsp. hot pepper sauce, or to taste

2 – 8 oz. cream cheese blocks

1/2 tsp. montreal steak seasoning

1 tsp. balsamic vinegar

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/2 tsp. onion powder

1/4 roasted garlic seasoning, optional

2/3 – 1 cup fresh parmesan cheese, grated

Cook spinach according to package directions. In a colander, drain the spinach; pressing with the back of a spoon to remove excess moisture.

Spinach In Collander

Combine in a food processor or with a hand mixer.

Food Processor

Pour into a small crock pot to heat through slowly.

Spinach Dip in Crock Pot

Serve warm with crackers, pita chips baguette French bread or cut-up vegetables.

That gets  me in the mood for party foods, appetizers, and dips!  Today I decided to create a round up of dips, but rather than serving these next to your chips,  veggies, and hot wings, you’ll need to put out some cookies and fruits to dip in. That’s right!  All of today’s dips are Dessert Dips! Yum! Hope you enjoy these! [Read more…]
