With the holidays just around the corner, everyone is looking for ways to save money on gifts as well as other household expenses.   Earlier this year we made the decision to abandon our “contract cell phones” which were costing us $150 a month, and  we started looking for pre-paid or post-pay, no-contract phones.  We did a lot of research, and Walmart Family Mobile was the winner with the lowest priced unlimited plans I’ve seen.

Walmart Family Mobile is powered by T-Mobile.  Service plans start as low as $24.88 for Unlimited Talk & Text and $34.88 for Unlimited Talk, Text, and Web.

Wow, right?  I know!

Since I already have a T-Mobile Trio AXS Tablet with 250 GB of free data, and since I work from home and mostly just leave the house to shop and run errands, the Unlimited Talk & Text plan is sufficient for me.

The phone that I’m currently using is the ZTE Zinger.  It is a Droid phone and is 4G Capable with a 3.5″ touch screen.  The phone currently sells for $39.88 (+$25 for a SIM/Starter Kit).  This is a very affordable price point for anyone who’s on a budget.  And the price of the phone combined with Walmart’s low rate plans are a huge help if you are wanting to get a cell phone for your teen or tween this Christmas but don’t want to pay an arm and a leg each month.

Walmart Family Mobile has other great phones as well, including great Roll Back Deals this November on The LGL90 is on sale for $119.88 (WAS $179.88) and the GSIII is $199.88 (WAS $299.88).

All their phones are prominently displayed at the Electronics Counter, so you can’t miss them!  An associate actually approached me before I even arrived at his counter and asked if I needed help.  I already knew which phone I intended to buy, so all I had to do was point!  When he checked the case, there were no ZTE Zingers, so he offered to go to back and get me one for. After he few minutes he returned with my phone in hand.  Now that’s good service!

The phone is great.  I really enjoy Droid devices in general.  And I am in an excellent coverage area.  The phone picks up very well at my home, in the school line, and everywhere else I have to go.  And with the low price phone plans, our family can stay connected.  My stepson only lives with us fifty percent of the time, so when he’s not here, it’s an absolutely necessity that he be able to reach us and we can reach him.

NoahLately a lot of the phone and texting conversations have been about Noah’s upcoming band trip. Our high school band is traveling to Philadelphia for the Dunkin Donuts Thanksgiving Parade.  It’s a very exciting opportunity for the band, and Noah is very excited about it.  Apart from getting to march in the parade and be on television, the band will also get to spend a couple of days in New York City and see Time Square, the Statue of Liberty and other great attractions. (I wish I was going!)

And apart from that, there’s always something to talk about that is band or school related, from turning in school and field trip fees, to practice times and activities.

I am very happy and thankful that we were able to find such a great deal on our cell phones.  Our phones are our lifelines and we need them to stay connected.  Now we can have this much-needed service for less, and we can use that extra money in other areas, which is fantastic.
