Thinking Outside the Cereal Bowl

Like most families, our kitchen cabinet has a shelf that is just for cereal.  I’ve always been the kind of person who can enjoy a good bowl of cereal any time of day, including in the middle of the afternoon, and especially as a late night snack!  But why just enjoy it in a bowl with some milk when there are countless ways to think outside the bowl and go beyond breakfast?  Today I’m showing you an easy after school snack or lunch time meal that you can prepare in minutes using your favorite Post breakfast cereals!

Honey Bunches of Oats

I’ve always been a huge fan of Post cereals, including Honey Bunches of Oats, and recently they’ve come out with a new variety, which has become a new instant favorite of mine: Honey Bunches of Oats Crunch O’s.  It is the classic Honey Bunches of Oats you know and love with new Honey Crunch O’s added in!  And its also available in a Almond Crunch O’s variety.

I purchased this cereal, along with Berry Colossal Crunch, a cereal featuring corn and fruit flavored puffs!

Cereal Aisle

The cereals are available at Walmart stores, along with new Kung Fu Panda Po Power Crunch.  You can find all of these new products in the cereal aisle.

Fried Peanut Butter and Cereal Sandwich

At my house, I’m always in need of after school snacks and weekend lunch options.  For these meals, I look for things we can make in a hurry, and I like to find things that our teenage son can put together for himself if he so desires.  One thing that he really enjoys is a nice grilled peanut butter sandwich!  Similar to a grilled cheese, here we make a simple, classic peanut butter sandwich and cook up with a little butter on our stove top!

Of course, as with all snacks, it’s fun to find ways to change it up and add new ingredients!  Enter Honey Bunches of Oats Crunch O’s.  Just putting a little bit of this great cereal, give the sandwich a burst of crunchy texture and a honey oat flavor that is just delicious!

And this idea works great with other Post cereals as well.  If you want to impress the kids and really put a zing of flavor in their peanut butter sandwich, try adding the Berry Colossal Crunch or Kung Fu Po Power Crunch!

  1. What a great idea to incorporate Honey Bunches of Oats Crunch O’s into a traditional PB sandwich. My boys are always hunger, and they aren’t even teens yet! This looks like the perfect snack for a teenager! #client
