As many of you know, my Simply Sweet Home will be even sweeter about a month from now, as we welcome our newest member, Baby Thaxton!  I am currently 35 weeks pregnant. As you can imagine, I am in the middle of final baby preparations: cleaning house, packing hospital bags, purchasing last minute supplies, and getting everything organized.  Phew!  One thing I don’t have to worry about right away is diapers and wipes.  Thanks to Sam’s Club, we have stocked up on plenty of those for a while!

Sam’s Club is THE place to stock up on must-have supplies for your family or small business.  In the past, I’ve saved a lot of money on health and beauty supplies, pet items, office supplies, and cleaning products.  Now that I’m pregnant, I get to take a peek at the must-have items for baby!  Sam’s Club has everything from baby toys and clothes, to essentials like diapers, wipes, and formula!  Today I’m going to talk about why Sam’s Club is a great place to shop for baby essentials. I also have information on an instant savings deal with Huggies® at Sam’s Club and a tutorial to help you organize your baby changing supplies!

On top of the money you can save at Sam’s Club, they now allow you to order online and have items shipped right to your home, or you can use the Sam’s Club Pick-Up service. Or for even more convenience, you can use Sam’s Club Subscription service.

Recently I got a new membership for Sam’s Club, and I stocked up on baby changing supplies.  I purchased 2 boxes of a Huggies Baby Wipes and one box of Huggies Little Snugglers in Size 1.

In case you’re curious about how much money you can actually save on diapers, check out this chart.  It shows the average number of diapers used per day, along with the average number of days, a baby will be in that size, and shows you how much you will save if you purchase all your diapers at Sam’s Club.

Purchasing your wipes as Sam’s Club is also a great convenience.  A box of 920 wipes should be enough for an entire year.  Within the box, they divide the wipes into five resealable packages.  They also include a cute container for your wipes.

Organize Your Baby Changing Supplies

As if the savings on diapers and wipes wasn’t enough, the big boxes they come in can be very useful for storage and organizing purposes.  I am the kind of person who has to have things organized and compartmentalized.  It gives me peace of mind to see things looking neat and clean, and it also takes out the stress of looking for things.  Today there are a ton of baskets and storage bin options out on the market, but the cheapest of these is usually around $10 to $20 or even higher.

If you upcycle your diaper and wipes boxes, you can save a ton of money on storage containers.  You can use these containers to organize inside closets and under cabinets.  And if you use wrapping papers or fabric that matches your decor, you can even make designer containers for your home.  We have a couple of cube organizers in our living room, and I found that the wipe boxes fit perfectly in the holes, so that’s definitely a future project to consider.  You can also use these on a book shelf in your office, living room, or baby room.  It would be perfect for organizing toys, craft supplies, and other items.

I am using he box featured in today’s post for a diaper changing supply box.  I have a nice changing table, but I also have a bassinet. The bassinet features an area underneath for supplies.  Rather than just tossing random items under the bassinet, I wanted a bin where I could place supplies.

To cover the box, I started by tucking the flaps of the top inside the box.  (You could also cut these off, but I think tucking them inside makes the box more sturdy.)  Then I simply unrolled my paper, as if I was wrapping a present. I pulled the paper up to check for a good fit and then cut slits in the paper, where the corners of the box would be.   This makes it so that the paper can easily be wrapped around all the sides.  (See pictures.)

After cutting the slits, I tucked any excess paper inside and then used tape to secure the paper on two opposite sides (as shown above).

Next I finished off the other two sides.  I folded and tucked the paper, then taped it, as if I was wrapping a package. (See above.)

What’s in the box?

Inside the box, I placed items that will be useful for changing diapers in the middle of the night, or for taking care of other late night baby emergencies.

  • Diapers.
  • Wipes.
  • Changing Pad.
  • Extra receiving blanket, swaddle, and/or sleepsack.
  • Extra sleep & play set, baby gown, or onesie.
  • Baby first aid kit (especially diaper rash ointment/cream, baby medicine & dropper, nasal aspirator, and thermometer).
  • Pacifier.

I invite you to join Sam’s Club today to get your instant savings with Huggies and start stocking up on must-have baby essentials!
