The fall season is here, and holidays are just around the corner.  For me, this means the season of good eats and sweet treats is upon us!  But when you’re a wife and mom, you usually don’t get to just enjoy the treats around you, you also have to come up with your own dessert ideas to bring for functions.

Whenever it’s time for Thanksgiving and Christmas parties, I’m usually tasked with bringing desserts. (And I’m okay with this, because desserts are my favorite recipes to make!)  But if your family participates in a lot of activities, you may find yourself in a pinch for a quick dessert recipe!  School and church parties, fall festivals, and school fundraisers (like a bake sale or cake walk) are just a few events I can think of where you may need to bring a dessert, and I’m sure you can think of many more!

For these occasions, I find it’s easy and cost-effective to create a “semi-homemade dessert.”  For example, purchase a Sara Lee® cheesecake, pound cake, or other dessert, and then add Hershey’s® syrups and other ingredients to customize the dessert. [Read more…]
