We are definitely home bodies.  My husband would rather stay home on the weekends that go out any day, and I generally feel the same way.  A trip to Walmart is like an adventure for me!  But I’m even happier just staying home when I’ve got great food (and especially desserts) to eat!

Although I enjoy a trip to the Ice Cream Parlor or Cupcake Shop just as much as the next girl (okay….honestly I probably enjoy it MORE than most children..) I have to say there is nothing like homemade ice cream to make your summer days fun, cool, and sweet!

To a lot of people, homemade ice cream means sitting around, turning a crank, listening to a much of noise, and generally a lot of trouble, not to mention the cost of the ice cream freezer (if you don’t already have one) which can be $50 and even $100.  BUT today I’m showing you how to enjoy a little homemade ice cream treat without all that hassle!

No-Churn Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

I searched the web until I found a super easy No-Churn Vanilla Ice Cream, and then I doctored it up with a little chocolate and cookie dough, to create a decadent No-Churn Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream! [Read more…]

Coke Float

Coca Cola is my favorite drink! Even though I love it, I do have to share!  Recently my husband and I went to Walmart to Share a Coke.  On July 6, Coca Cola had a nationwide Share a Coke Event at Walmart.  We received free Coke samples, and we got to see the new bottles and cans which have words on them such as “friend” and “family” along with personalized bottles with actual names on them. Dr Pepper Snickers

The summer season is known as a time for vacations and fun in the sun, but it is also the season for home improvement and a little DIY fun.  Today I’m going to give you a quick run down on some of the things I’m working on this summer, and I’ll tell you about how I refuel with Dr Pepper and Snickers.

When you’re doing any kind of work or activities outside, a Snickers and Dr Pepper really hit the spot.  Dr Pepper 20 oz bottles and SNICKERS 2-to-Go Bars are not only the perfect portion size for a quick snack, but they are also conveniently located near the check out line at your local Walmart.  I recently shopped at Walmart and picked up a few for myself: [Read more…]

Easy Apple Pie Ice Cream

Nothing says summer quite like ice cream. As a kid we used to make homemade ice cream every couple weeks from Memorial Day and Labor Day, but the process of filling and cranking the ice cream maker was arduous. While I would love to continue the homemade ice cream tradition with my own kids, cranking the machine for 4 hours is just not practical. Instead, we’ve found a much simpler way to create delicious flavored ice cream while still going about our summer activities. I’ll usually whip up the concoction just before we head out to the park or the pool, so that by the time we get home we can relax on the porch and indulge.

This recipe is super easy and leaves much room for variation. My favorite ice cream flavor we’ve tried is by far the all-American apple pie. We’ve tried other flavorings and all have been great (including some adventures with chocolate and peanut butter) but apple pie stands out as the crowd favorite in my home.
